Getting motivational therapy soon after suffering a stroke can improve recovery by reducing depression and helping patients set realistic goals for the future, according to a report in Stroke: Journal of the American Heart Association.
Researchers found that participants in the therapy had better moods and were more likely to work harder at rehabilitation than other stroke victims. The group receiving motivational therapy also accepted their situation better than those not in therapy.
